Install Banner Slider and Remove Vertical Navigation - Magento

We have a dev site : [url removed, login to view]

We want to install this banner slider because we want a full with slider with admin control and we want to be able to add the slider to each category page.

Attached you will find the homepage wireframe. We actually do not want the left sidebar found in the wireframe. You will see the dev site has the proper layout for the homepage.

Each category page will have it's own unique set of images. So the homepage will have a slider with unique images.

Each category page will also have a banner slider and each category will have unique images.

Attached is what the homepage will look like and you will see the customization we want for the slider. We want 5-6 hyperlinked boxes in the lower 1/4 of the banner and these boxes will move the slider from image to image.
