Create a custom hover flip effect for a Wordpress Template

What I need is a custom hover state for "tiles" on a masonry type template. I want the container to "flip" when hovered over and display a selectable color overlay [same color for all tiles] and then grab a couple of custom fields from the posts [which you'll need to put into the editor] I will need it integrated into an existing theme [or child theme]
