Autocad VBA

I need a couple utilities created for some drawings I want to organize better. The first one I want is to split apart a layer. Things were set up by electrical system such as normal power, emergency, critical etc. I want to split them apart by panel. Most of my experience with VBA is in Excel so I'm interested in having someone more familiar with AutoCAD just do this for me. What I would like is a small userform where I can select the layer I want to split up, have a button that generates a list of the text from all objects on that layer. Also a text box to type in the exact text to separate by. That text should be used as part of the new layer name. Another text box to enter a pre-fix for the layer name. Also I want to be able to select an object on the drawing to specify a color for the new layer. The process should go that I select the layer I want to break up, generate the list of text items so I can see what panels are in that layer. Then using that list type in a specific panel for the new layer. If I want, the prefix box can be used so I can put something like "E-" in front of whatever the panel name is. Lastly I will click on the panel schedule which has separate colors for each panel already so that the new layer will take on that color. The problem we have is that on our power drawings things are by system where the overhead drawings are by panel and the colors don't match between the drawings. I'm creating combination drawings because we need stuff from both.
