The project is to develop a C++ console application to perform peak detection using the AMPD algorithm as per the attached document. The project would require: 1) Development of a code to create a random simulation sets of data; 2) Storage in an array of the input data and results data 3) Save to a text file the input and results data for presentation with MS excel. 4) Modification of the AMPD algorithm to detect both peaks and troughs. Suggested compiler is VS10

Hi, I've done some similar research in order to detect the peak of a signal using autocorrelation on the frequency spectrum. I read through the algorithm and it seems fairly straightforward. I suspect this procedure could be made fairly efficient through the use of the Eigen library ([login to view URL]). Regarding trough detection, I think this could be done in one of two ways: first, since the algorithm assumes a periodic signal, we can expect to find the troughs with a simple wavelength calculation. Secondly, and perhaps more robustly, you can flip the sign of all input values after linear detrending (centering the signal about 0), turning troughs into peaks. Thanks for your consideration! Dan
