Animated video: The Chinese Concept of Time

As indicated in my stick-figure drawing, attached (the man is walking backwards down the staircase), the word for above (shàng 上) is also the word for the past and the word for down (xià 下) is also the word for next. As the person moves further down the staircase into the future he is gaining a greater perspective up the staircase into the past. This image helps show why Chinese people often look to the past in order to understand the present, and shows why a person’s age confers respect (because older people have see further into the past and thus have greater perspective). I wish to create an animation (a couple of minutes I imagine) based on this idea. The animation would show what the characters mean (see attached) and the man would be working down the staircase with events (historical or his life events) slowly unfolding.
