I need a small program that can take all timestamps (created and modified etc) from one file and copy it to another or better all files in another directory.
It should work like:
[login to view URL] file1 file2
or
[login to view URL] file1 directory
all files in the directory should have their timestamps changed to the one from file1.
Thats it small and quick for an expert.
Can be in any language!!! No requirements on the language! (java, python, perl, cucubmer etc)
Hello, here [login to view URL] is the code I wrote in python to change the timestamps. Please, test it and let me know if it works for you. It can take a file or directory as target to change the timestamps.
In case of a directory, every file including subdirectories will be modified.
usage: [login to view URL] [-h] inputfile target
arguments:
inputfile The file from which the timestamps will be copied.
target The target file or directory.
Please let me know if you have any problem whatsoever. Thank you.

Hello.
This is more deep task, then it seems on first galnce.
First step: on which file system you would like this tool should work? ext, xfs, ntfs, ...?
I suggest take one of them on first step and then estimate price and time.
Regards.
Hello, I'm an expert C# developer with 10 years of experience. I have read and understood your requirements. I'm ready to start right now and will finish in less than an hour.
Hi, I am a java developer with 5 years of experience. I read and understand your description.
Please send me a message so we can discuss your requirements.
Thanks.
I have extensive experience(7 years) in C/C++ based Projects.
I can help you to complete the task in time.
If you are using a Linux machine ,I can provide you python or shell script.
If you are using Windows I can give you python script.
Hi,
I will give you an exe. You can run the exe from command prompt.
It will require you to give the initial file name and a directory path. All the files in that directory will have the timestamp of the initial file.
Thanks.
I have had substantial experience in developing key apps using Java. My primary interest lies in developing Java apps for Windows based platforms. Although, I can also design and develop Java apps for Linux and Android platforms, too.
I have a lot of experience on Unix systems and with perl programming. I can write the script to your wishes, I would imagine the script would either distinguish between directory and file as the second parameter and do the right thing, or let's you specify flag "-r" to to it recursivel (in case you may need to copy timestamp from file to a directory itself).
