This project involves the programming of a C/C++, cross platform direct connection server API for the MT4 platform. This API should be coded in C or C++ and should be able to work on Linux or Windows (sample projects for Visual Studio 2010 and Eclipse are expected). The API should be able to connect DIRECTLY with Metatrader 4 trading servers (no terminal, terminal executables or terminal DLLs should be used). The API should be able to retrieve quotes across a requested time interval, retrieve list of available trading symbols, place trading orders (market and pending), modify/delete/close orders and logout of the session. The final result from this project will be released as open source and the developer will be given full credit for his effort (this is like a paid open source program). Successful completion of this project may lead to additional work (such as the building of bindings for other languages, documentation, etc). Please do not bid if you do not have experience with the reverse engineering of network protocols or if you do not have experience with the coding of cross-platform solutions. I would expect this project to be completed in a maximum of 3 to 4 weeks. Thank you for reading :o)

My bid is NOT a completion of project bid. Unfortunately I have attempted to do what you are requesting back in Oct 2008 with some minor support from an MT4 community. In order to complete this task the scope of your project needs to change, and it should be broken into several discrete pieces. This bid will give you the advice, experience and a specific plan of action to complete your goals. I spent several days studying the MT4 traffic with Wireshark in addition to working with MT4 for months, and getting more frustrated with a long litany of flaws in their platform. I expect that you are trying to build an open source platform for MT4 trading, I attempted the same thing. I believe it is possible, but it is not reasonable AT ALL as part of your listed scope. Please look at my skill set and full summary. Again, I am offering a way of achieving what you are attempting. I want to bid $50 for providing this information within 1 day, but that is not permitted. A 'reasonable' completion date for this project is 'never' due to technical complications. Breaking the project into smaller sections and following my plan: 6-15 weeks. I may be able to provide the MT4 server code as well.
