Android facial image Processor

I'm Electrical and Electronic engineering student currently preparing for the MEng program at the University of the West of England. I have recently completed my BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the same university. I successfully implemented a facial expression system in Matlab as a part of my last year individual project. In that project I used support vector machines and K nearest neighbors for classification of facial expressions. I understand that your project is very similar to what I did recently except you want me to do it in android. In you project I will use feature extraction on images and then I will use a suitable machine learning technique to classify objects. I have also worked as an android programmer before starting my BEng and I have developed a lot of android programs. I work with OpenCV for android for image processing projects. OpenCV itself has face recognition and implementations -like SVMs - related to expression recognition. Is there any particular library or algorithm you have in mind to implement this?

Hey, I have good experience in developing android applications. I would like to work on this project as I find facial recognition related stuff pretty interesting and I have done similar work but that was using MATLAB to detect faces in images while we will be using android APIs to detect faces from images. Let me know bit more details about the app features. Will user need to capture images using app too? or they will just select images already available in SD card or on device memory? Also if we need to detect faces using just device API or we can use web based services too? Let me know what you think. Regards S M
