Blog template design work(repost)

My blog is not bandwidth friendly OR very usable the way I have it today. In my limited experience I've hacked the templates using the blogger APIs to the best result I could: [login to view URL] I'd like the left sidebar, Previous Posts to have every single post made for the last 12 months. Also an indicator in the previous posts area (maybe a small arrow on the left of postname pointing at that post) that shows which post you are viewing. I hate the way the Blogger API changes this section to show only the 10 previous to what you are currently viewing. Below that should be years like: 2005, 2004 etc that include all the posts for that year. Clicking on that year expands and shows all the posts within. Because previous posts always keeps the last 12 months it may have posts from 2 calendar years - that is fine. Blogger archives must be supported. I use freefind to search/index the site. If you have ideas for something that looks/works better I would appreciate help. Finally, I am no template guru. After months of work it now behaves the way I want it to and seems to work well. A quick code review and comments/changes needed too. It isn't very large. Bonus $50- feature: If you could set a cookie and show what posts in the Previous Posts section have changed or are new since last visit. At the bottom of the page there are next and previous arrows. And I want one blog post per page. Like pages of a book you read from beginning to end. You place a bookmark and it works like a physical bookmark.
