CONVERT/TRANSLATE APPLESCRIPT TO UNIX SHELL SCRIPT

CONVERT AN APPLESCRIPT TO A ROBUST UNIX SHELL SCRIPT. NEED THE SCRIPT TO RUN FLAWLESSLY Need a developer who can convert/translate a MAC AppleScript written for MAC Panther OS X 10.3.9 (working perfectly) BUT behaves very differently in OS X Tiger 10.4.6 TO A ROBUST UNIX SHELL SCRIPT. It is common knowledge that the "Finder" Application in MAC OS X is very unstable and full of bugs. The name of the MAC Script is "clean-names". "clean-names" primary function is to get rid of all weird Non-IBM/Cross-Platform compatible characters in file names and create a log file. It is all open source. When the same script is run on Tiger it chooses to: 1) Re-name some but not all files with weird characters, 2) Does not remove trailing spaces in some file names, & 3) Cannot guarantee the result. Therefore I need the script converted to a ROBUST UNIX SHELL SCRIPT. Hope someone can help!
