digital signage: like the average

Create software that manages and schedules video content to be played on digital screens in retail locations. Much of this video content will be 15-second and 30-second ads. Each digital screen would be connected to a computer (player) at a retail location, which would regularly check the server for updates to the schedule, and download the latest video content. A web application would be created to administer the schedule and upload new video files for the server to distribute to the various players. The update process will be performed on a scheduled base, like once a day or at system startup thru the lan if it exist or alternatively thru' a dial up modem connection(GPRS) Software functionality to include: 1. Play a wide range of video formats including MPEG, AVI, Quicktime, Flash 8, RSS Feed, PHP, still images. 2. Play video on a loop-style schedule. Example: One video would be scheduled to play between 2pm-4pm (player time), on players #100, #134, and #143-155. Player #134 for example will now loop through 8 videos on it's schedule between 2pm-4pm. 3. Adjust video loop settings. To avoid repetitiveness, a loop should randomize the video order each time, but also ensure that no videos are repeated back to back (first video of the next loop, wouldn't be the last video of the current loop). 4. Control video play times. Each video should be allowed to either play for a certain number of seconds (ex. 15 seconds for a Flash ad), or for the length of the video (ex. 3 minutes 27 seconds for a music video). 5.
