In Stage 2 of the assignment you are to decide on a new event concept for your chosen destination and write an event proposal which describes the event and justifies the event concept in relation to the characteristics of your chosen destination. Your event proposal will be presented as a report that includes the following information: a description of the event concept What type of event, is it? Describe the event When will it be held? Duration of event Where will it be held? Who will host the event? (government, a company or business, a charity organisation, an association e.g sporting association etc) How will the event be financed? Is it a ticketed event, a free event, willit seek government funding or sponsorship? the event goals and objectives Target audience a SWOT analysis of the event Identification of key stakeholders at the destination who would need to be consulted in the event planning process an explanation of how the event fits within the broader events strategy/tourism plan for your chosen region an explanation of how the event will contribute to the tourism goals of the region an explanation of how the event makes the best use of available resources at the destination Students should clearly identify the relevant event management issues raised by their chosen event and support their discussion with relevant secondary data such as the strategic planning documents you found for your chosen destination that you used for Stage 1 of the project e.g the strategic tourism plan, events strategy, cultural policy etc. Focus on the objectives outlined in one of those documents.
