Hello,
I believe perhaps the first and best step would be an initial tutoring session which could be done via the chat feature - perhaps by reading and editing a sample essay of your daughters and then offering some critique and answering a few questions as far as clarification on my critique and suggestions. If that initial session works well, then this website does offer the ability to post projects by an hourly rate and so we could proceed after the initial session with an hourly rate, or agree to a certain number of hours or days per month to assist at a more fixed rate, but I would still prefer for this to be kept through this site and cannot encourage offline communication and violate the terms. I have a lot of experience with writing and editing through working in business consulting and as an attorney. Also, my many years of experience afforded me with very much experience in preparing essays - one of my degrees was in philosophy (not a fun or easy degree to prepare essays on! But it certainly taught me a lot). I have some experience tutoring at the elementary school level, but I worked with friends while in university and law school. I do very much resonate with this request and would love to help. Although I cannot say this for sure, given that everyone is different, but I believe your daughter may benefit very well from a few sessions and then perhaps a few other one off sessions later if she begins to run into trouble again. Given that the subject matter is writing essays, I believe, for most people, it really begins with working through the basics of how they approach it, techniques to consider that may assist and better their ability, and a discussion on where she feels she is having is having issues and/or what I notice. It is amazing how a few pointers can really change the direction someone takes, and the work quality, when it comes to writing. In contrast, math is a subject I would consider more of a weekly, ongoing tutoring subject since new material continues to be added to subject matter already learned. I am not second guessing you wanting an ongoing tutor, and suggested how I can do that, but want to let you know that I do feel a few sessions may really help so that you get someone who genuinely is trying to help build your daughter's skills, and not collect money every week or more often. If your daughter would benefit from more frequent sessions, I will certainly be open to that as well. The price I quoted is for an initial read of a sample essay, where I will critique it and provide feedback and suggestions, after which I will chat with your daughter to further clarify on those and any observations as well as answer any questions she may have - she can also provide a list of topics or issues she would like me to answer or provide ideas on in advance (in writing so she may have this all for future reference as well), although I will then be happy to chat as well.
