I currently work for an ISP based in the UK as a Network Project Engineer and cover migrations ranging from routing and switching up to firewalls and COLO migrations. My role involves migrating firewalls in and out of data centres, upgrading equipment and also on-boarding new customers having been given their previous configurations. I see you are looking to get the firewall up to 8.4 so you can use a migration tool. I would go the extra mile and just convert your configuration from the Cisco 5505 straight up to the Cisco 1010 to save you the extra step if you wanted. Good morning I am Cisco CCNP certified. I have hands-on experience with Cisco ASA. I assume you have an ASA 5505-X Please, verify your ASDM version too. There is a compatibility matrix so you need to ensure that both the ASA image and the ASDM software have the right level in order you can later use the Firepower tool. I have the Cisco 8.4(5) ASA image ready to send it to you. I can tell you the step-by-step CLI commands to upgrade from 7.2 to 8.4(5) software image, and how to verify the ASDM version that you may to upgrade too. Be aware that the PAT pool feature is not available as a fallback method for dynamic NAT or PAT in 8.4 and you may need to reconfigure that commands if you have them in 7.2 version before upgrading to 8.4(5) Be aware that some configurations are changed when migrating from pre- 8.3 version as your case. I can tell you the list of configuration changes that will happen after the upgrade. They need to be checked. Please if you choose me, verify first the ASDM version, then we can see the steps to go to 8.4(5) I am not a fan of ASDM, I like to work with CLI more :-) In addition, and the most important...if you check the supported platforms for Firepower Upgrade Tool, the 5505 is not there, but the 5510 is, and it is essentially the same so... you can give it a try, just for your knowledge. One option of the migration is to export the configuration file from the 5505x and that is equal to a 5510x, so I think it can be done that way. regards Alex
