I'm a mechanical engineer - specialized in the industrial robotic field, 3D designer and modeler (from time to time and some projects I could make the functional prototype too). I'm doing product design, industrial design, reverse engineering, ideation, etc. I have over 15 years experience working on various systems/devices across multiple industries, from concept to launch. 1 - do you have the 3d model of the jaws? (from the attached pdf, it looks like the joints of the upper jaw is not quite well defined and fitting with the lower jaw...) 2 - in order to allow you to adjust the position of the jaw, will require the fixture to have some passive compliance 3 - there is any time constraints for opening/closing the jaw? (this will determine the motor type/parameters and also the drive mechanism) 4 - the mechanism will be hidden inside the crocodile mouth? (what material to be used - in order not to get catch into the mechanism...) we could discuss all the details here... Regard

I would need some more details like: 1) Closing speed; 2) Security issues (people have access to touch the jaw?); 3)Actuator: It seams you need an electric motor not a step motor, is it so?
