Hi, For this project I propose creating a Rails API to handle the bulk of the functionality and a node/socket app for the chat system. I would use AppGyver Steroids to create the mobile app, which is based on Adobe Phonegap but has API plugins and performance that approaches native apps. Sounds like an exciting project!
