Rental Car booking website (simple project)

2.1 WordPress core functionality The USC website app must utilise the following WordPress core functionality: l Pages l Menus l Users (2 levels of access – Student Renter & USC Staff) l Widgets (x1 minimum) 2.2 Car Booking Module (must be a Custom WordPress Plugin, / not 3rd party plugin !) The Car Booking Module must be developed and packaged as a standalone WordPress plugin in accordance with the specific module requirements outlined. ( will be provided) 2.2.1 Plugin - core functionality l Must utilise custom post types l Must utilise custom taxonomies l Must include two WordPress admin pages: 1. Cars 2. Bookings Important:You are not permitted to use any third-party plugins for the car booking module plugin, this must be built as a custom WordPress plugin from scratch. 2.2.2 Plugin - WordPress admin pages’ functionality The car booking plugin admin pages must provide administrator users with the following functionality: l Ability to add, edit and delete cars l Ability to add, edit and delete pod locations l Ability to see a list of all bookings l Ability to view a single booking l Ability to cancel a booking 2.2.3 Car filtering functionality (front-end) The car booking WordPress plugin must include functionality in the front-end of the website for users to filter cars based on the requirements specified the USC Information (will be provided) 3. Theme Development The USC website app must use the underscores theme as the theming framework (base theme) for building the front-end of the website. The underscores theme can be downloaded at [login to view URL] At a minimum, the USC theme must utilise a custom page template for one of the website page layouts. 4. User Authentication Module The user authentication module must utilise the native WordPress user accounts functionality. You are not required to install any third-party plugins for this module. 4.1 Two levels of user access The USC website must include the following levels of user access: 1. Student Renter user (set in WordPress as Subscriber) 2. USC Staff admin backend user (set in WordPress as Administrator) 4.2 Core functionality The USC website must allow Student Renter users to perform the following actions: l Sign up for new account (new users) l Login (existing users) l Update email/username and password (existing users) 5. Visual styling and aesthetics Visual styling for the entirety of the USC website should be as aesthetically appealing as possible, but measures should be taken to ensure the majority of time on this assessment is directed towards WordPress development - i.e. functionality focused. User interface components and design patterns (headers, footers, sidebars etc.) should appear complete and functional . Any final design polish and visual enhancements to the overall aesthetic should not be at the detriment of incomplete functionality or processing errors. The underscores theme framework is devoid of significant visual CSS styling, however CSS starter code will be provided in one of the weekly exercises as a minimum visual styling on which to build upon. This CSS starter code harnesses the Pure CSS framework ([login to view URL] ) which students are encouraged to learn about to take advantage of its built-in styles for commonly used UI components such as buttons, forms etc. 6.
