Bash Script (Command to Query RRD file to return bandwidth usage I have some rrd database files that store counter stats from routers via snmp queries. I use these rrds to create graphs of traffic. Here is the command that creates the RRD files it will allow you see the RRD structure rrdtool create [$FILE] --step 30 DS:bytes-in:COUNTER:60:0:100000000000 DS:packets-in:COUNTER:60:0:100000000000 DS:bytes-out:COUNTER:60:0:100000000000 DS:packets-out:COUNTER:60:0:1000000000000000 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:40320 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:10:8640 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:120:17520 RRA:MIN:0.5:10:8640 RRA:MIN:0.5:120:17520 RRA:MAX:0.5:10:8640 RRA:MAX:0.5:120:17520 Here is the RRD command that I use to enter Data into the rrd files snmpget -Oqv -v 2c -c xxxxxx $1 .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.{10,11,16,17}.2 | sed ':a;N;$!ba;s/\n/ /g' | awk '{print "N:"$1":"$2":"$3":"$4}') Here is the current graophing command that I use /usr/bin/rrdtool graph /var/www/html/ogmagraph/$FILEB --color BACK#FFFFFF --color SHADEA#FFFFFF --color SHADEB#FFFFFF -v "Bits Per Second" --start -30h --units=si --full-size-mode --no-gridfit --alt-autoscale -w 1100 -h 300 DEF:BytesOutMax=$RRDFILE:bytes-out:MAX CDEF:outbitsmax=BytesOutMax,8,* AREA:outbitsmax#009900:Upload DEF:BytesOut=$RRDFILE:bytes-out:MAX CDEF:outbits=BytesOut,8,* LINE:outbits#006600:Upload DEF:BytesInMax=$RRDFILE:bytes-in:MAX CDEF:inbitsmax=BytesInMax,-8,* AREA:inbitsmax#ff0000:Download DEF:BytesIn=$RRDFILE:bytes-in:AVERAGE CDEF:inbits=BytesIn,-8,* LINE:inbits#b30000:Download) I would like to be able to query these rrd files to as to ascertain the following Total traffic over past 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, 1 week, 2weeks, the result would be in a text format. I would like this command as a sheel command that i can run.
