Shelter Design for Indigenous Project - Northern Territory Australia

We need an architect/designer to provide suitable designs for shade shelters to be constructed at a remote Australian location. Design needs to be complete within 1 week, by 6th February. There will be 2 types of design - 1 is a "standard" shelter to provide shade and will be similar to what is found in many city parks. The 2nd design is an "Architectural" design, and will need to be able to incorporate Aboriginal Artworks into the final designs. At this stage we are tendering for the works, and need concept designs to present with out proposal - it should be noted that the design is the most critical aspect of the project at this stage, as this is the biggest variable. The successful Architect should have a working knowledge of Aboriginal people and their culture, and also be familiar with outdoor structures. You will need to have excellent English skills, and be able to provide initial sketches for comment within 48hrs. Standard’ Shelter Design: o designed for practical purposes, being highly functional in terms of provision of shade; o largely intended to be utilised for shade when viewing sporting events; o anticipated to be a ‘proprietary type’ product however, suitable for the intended use; o of minimum width 6 metres and depth 4 metres; o incorporate a sand floor (no seating or tables required); and o Pre-fabricated / modular (i.e. 100% manufactured offsite). Architectural’ Shelter Design o no aesthetic limitation to the design however, highly functional in terms of provision of shade; o themed designs based on regional beauty and local communities; o feature indigenous artwork incorporated into key elements of the shelters, developed by each of the local communities within which they are located; o of minimum area 36 square metres each (e.g. 6 metres x 6 metres); o incorporate a sand floor (no seating or tables required); and o pre-fabricated / modular (i.e. 100% manufactured offsite). We need some initial concept sketches, and we will agree on a price for these sketches. Then if we are successful in our tender, we will move to the next stage of the full design of the shelters. Any designer that is prepared to provide concept sketches as part of their proposal will be preferred.
