To investigate the measures needed to be adopted in the housing sector to manage the climate change impact and mitigate its negative outcomes. Thesis Objectives 1. To review existing Government policies on housing and climate change. 2. To critically evaluate the existing knowledge and expertise in dealing with the existing housing stock and new ones. 3. To analyze the green building standards and certification systems (NZEB & BER). 4. To review the challenges involved and advantages in building new NZEB standard homes and retrofitting the existing ones to NZEB standard. 5. To examine the countries which are leading on NZEB standards per EU. 6. To make recommendations for the Government, householders, local authorities, construction sector etc.
