The project is to fix a couple of bugs in an established labelling software product called LabelDirect. The main developer has left the company and the latest version has a couple of bugs that stop it being released. The product has been around for some considerable time and is developed using Visual Studio 6. It is necessary that the chosen developer will be familiar with that environment and be experienced in developing similarly complex applications. Further information and the existing source code will be supplied and the attached document was prepared by a previous employee who is not intimate with this software and is now retired but has a much better understanding of software development that myself. A significant advantage is that the previous current version does not have the bugs and the source code is also available for the current version.

May be we should first compile your old source (we have VS 6 on windows 7, 32 bit; the box was upgraded from XP, have not tried anything using VS6 for past many years). Not sure whether this software is dealing with any specific label printing hardware/device, may be I could not understand this fully from the DLL list you provided. Hello, I read your requirements and the attached document describing the current version details. As an MFC/Win32/C++ expert, I should say that your current version uses outdated version of MFC and all additional third-party components and will need to be rebuild with a modern (VS 2017) version of MFC. Most of the additional third-party GUI components will have to be re-implemented (if support is canceled) or replaced. I'll be able to do this for you. It might be possible might to work on your project using the current version codebase, but I'm not sure. Let me know if you are interested. The MFC library predates UWP's WRL & CPPWinRT for object-oriented programming with C++ to target Windows OS & I can manage doing maintenance work to get your project working. Will you please share more details regarding the issues so I may be specific and update the milestones? I do development with C++, for engineering native solutions for different platforms like Windows. When should this be begun?
