Hi,
It was very interesting to see that you are planning to reduce the amount of manual effort needed to monitor and re-execute the executable on failure by automating the whole process.
To make sure I understood correctly, I am re-summarising the problem statement below.
1. There is a compressed binary file, which needs to be decompressed.
2. Upon decompressing, I would get an executable which the script needs to trigger.
3. We need to monitor the executable on regular basis and if we see it is not running, we need to retrigger the same.
This part can easily be done using Python and crontab.
To add to that, I do see some challenges which can be further looked into.
1. If any sort of logging/mailing of how many times a the executable has been restarted is required.
2. If the executable is failing, there might be some error due to which needs to be debugged.
3. Are there any sort of default steps which needs to be done before restarting the executable.
Looking forward to further discuss it in person.
