I have this 3d model. My problem is that the laser cutting factory, that needs to process this file, they will only accept a 2D design in .step format. Can you fix this?

No problem, I can do this! Just seems weird to me.. I have operated laser cuttters and all of them use .ai vectors.. but anyway, I can do it and if you could not cut with .step I'll provide you with the model in other file format for free! Sounds right for you?

Hi! I've opened your file, it can be easy exported to any of common used 2d formats for cutting. Will be glad to export it in *.step (2d) for you in few minutes. To be honest, *.step format is rarely used for laser cutting, usually preferred formats for laser cutting software are *.eps, *.ai, dxf (2d dxf) and *.svg. But i can give you all of them additionally to *.step. Fast completion and good quality guarantee. Waiting for your reply :)

Iit's an easy job, I can do it right now. Cutting the silhouette of the object single line in .step format. I am ready to send it to you, just say the desired dimensions. but most laser cutting factory supported AI, PLT, DXF fomats. maybe you need them
