Very Simple model to be included in a very simple scene A car and a car park Develop a storyboard and dope sheet (planning sheet describing exact shots and timings needed for animated content) for your movie. This should be VERY detailed as you will have to match up live shots and animated footage • For this exercise there are four graded levels of difficulty: 1. Static live shot with static (non mobile) computer animation. 2. Multiple angle static live shots, with cuts, matched with matched angle animation. 3. Motion live camera (mobile framing) with matched mobile animation. 4. Motion live camera (mobile framing) with cuts, with matched mobile animation with cuts. Things to think about: • Scaling. Does the animated content match up with the live content in terms of scale? How are you going to measure this? • Angle matching. Are the live camera and animated cameras ‘shooting’ from the same angle? • Light matching. Does the light direction in the animated content match the light direction in the live content? • Shadows and light quality (difficult stuff!). How will your animated content cast shadows in the live scene. Is the ‘light quality’ in both live and 3D components equivalent? • Animation theory. (Squash – stretch, ease in – ease out) Develop a short 30 sec computer animation either all together or broken up using a virtual camera Portfolio Deliverables • A short movie in 1280x720 HD resolution Mp4 format. • A report which should discuss the production of the movie and the techniques used to create it. Include the storyboard. Your report should define the following terms: Motion tracking (or ‘match moving’) Compositing, Alpha Matte, HDRI or Light Probe.
