Hellow Freelancers, I need help with Database design of my application. Database should be in MS SQL Server. See the attached design of what i have done so far and read the below for clarity 1. When user purchase tickets they must provide their cell number 2. User can purchase ticket on his friends behalf and reference numbers must be sent to friends mobile number. 3. The are three ticket categories (Regular, VIP, VVIP) 4. Event attended will produce ref numbers(will be sent to them by SMS) to be admitted on the event. 5. Each event will have tickets limited. No overselling of tickets. Eg event will admin 100 people and ticket can be grouped as 30 VIP 20 VVIP 50 Regular Each ticket category has it own pricing 6. Payment will be done via credit card using 3rd party gateway 7. The buyer must create profile before making any purchases and we will be awarding frequent buyers will loyalty points 8. Buyer can buy more than one ticket( i think we need to have a cart)... 9. The staff details table is for staff that will be at the gate on the event admiting attendees. They will have 3 levels 1. Normal user (can only admit ticket) 2. Manager (can refund ticket) 3. Admin(create tickets) This database will be used on the application and will like to see stored procedures or you tell me how we can develop a quality database. Each event houses around 100 000 people

Hello, I have read your requirements and also reviewed database design you had made till now. As I have 5+ years of experience and I have did similar works and made database design for many projects. As database design is very important part of applications and I know all facts while design database. The first most important thing to develop a quality database is for the schema to be correct so you're taking the right first step by getting second opinions. Database should be normalised to 3rd normal form using EF CODD principles of database normalisation. To ensure integrity of the data, key constraints should be added where necessary to ensure data remains intact. With 100000 users for any one event, performance must be a consideration otherwise it will be slow. Additional indexes may need to be added later to speed up performance. Looking at your design, the TicketHolders doesn't look right. HolderCellNumber can be stored in the IssuedTickets table as their will only be 1 Holder cell number for an Issued Ticket. You can derive the Qty of tickets from the total number of records against the IdNum so no need to store it. The self join to the cart table also doesn't make sense. The Cart table does not need to store Total as this is derived from the Sum of the LineTotal in the CartItems table for that Cart (CartId). There is more - I can help make your schema perfect.
