I am writing to apply for the position of Writer of Children Books. I have a Ph.D. in Theatre Arts and Literature, with a strong emphasis in theatre history, critical theory and screen and playwriting.
I am an associate professor at the College of William and Mary. During my time there, my book, Performance Analysis: an Introductory Coursebook (co-edited with Colin Counsell) was published, and has since gone into a second printing. I have published an edited copy of Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, and am currently working on two book projects.
I teach the playwriting and screenwriting strands of the undergraduate degree, and have had student work accepted at the Royal Court Theatre in London, the New York Fringe Festival and Capital Fringe in Washington, DC.
I am looking for work that will take me outside of the academy and that will allow me to expand my skills. I already do a great deal of writing on various research projects for conference papers, as well as my monographs. As a freelancer, I have adapted a Ukrainian folk tale for children, and I am currently awaiting a response from an author in New South Wales about her story that I edited and re-wrote (my sample piece). I believe that I could bring my academic, critical eye to your work and we could form a viable partnership.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Laurie J Wolf
