Hi, This is an interesting task right up my alley. I assume you have the list of geo coordinates in the path / route taken at some intervals, and you would like to compute the aggregate of number of miles traveled in each state. A small note - the accuracy will be directly proportional to the granularity at which the geo-coordinates are recorded. More the data points, more the accuracy. I can create a script for you that computes the values every time it is run or optionally integrate the feature into your core product. Looking forward, JP

Hello, I used to work for a vehicle tracking company for many years and I think I have the experience to complete this task. I understand you have a sequence of positions (lat/long) in your database belonging to a specific driver or car and you need to calculate the distance travelled from start to stop. Basically you can use straight line distance calculation between each consecutive position or use the haversine function if the distances between points can be large. One can also reproject the coordinates to another projection which keeps distances unaltered. Best wishes, iticus
