Project Outline The purpose of this project is to allow and encourage farmers to enter their crop yield data into an online database. Their motivation to enter data should be to participate in a research project. Data entered will include the crop yield, corn hybrid, planting data, use of foliar fungicides and nitrogen fertilizer, previous crop, county, township, and a unique name for field location, and dockage factors. The payoff for the grower is that they receive access to summarized yield data from all other farmers from that same database. This information is of use to farmers because they can 1) evaluate their yields and crop production practices against other farmers, 2) use the information to improve their production practices, 3) use the data for optimal marketing.
