Construction Estimating database development

Project will involve the development of a database and user interface for the purposes of determining the costs of various construction activities that we engage in. The successful bidder will be able to help us to develop this software based upon our needs. Attached is a spreadsheet of how we currently determine costs for bidding on construction projects. It is not totally comprehensive of all of what we do but is representative of the information that would need to be expressed in an estimating program. Basically, the user will enter a few pieces of data for each product and get the bottom line calculation broken down in to materials, labor and a few other categories. If you have worked on similar estimating projects before please let us know what your experience in this specific area is. **Addendum** I have attached an MS Access file that a programmer has previously worked on. He failed to help us "flesh out" the best way to accomplish what it is we needed. he simply adapted the spreadsheet straight to the database. It was far to specific to adapt to our needs. I am including it here just as a potential representation of the amount of detail and work that may be required for this project and to avoid the potential for anyone bidding without knowing the level of complexity that it may require (or not depending on your skill and view). Again, THIS FILE IS NOT WHAT WE WANTED AND SIMPLY WAS AN ADAPTATION OF THE EXCEL SHEET WITHOUT REGARD TO USING THE BEST POSSIBLE METHOD OR ANY DESIGN INPUT. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
